20-12-19 - Preview - Altrincham Vs Kidderminster Harriers

After yet another unwanted lay-off the Harriers are back in action at Altrincham tomorrow afternoon.

Sam Austin
Sam Austin
Looking for another goal at Alty or will he wait another 3 years?

Our last game was at Guiseley AFC two Tuesdays ago and we, at last, picked up all three points from the game in a 2-1 win. Ashley Chambers and Sam Austin scored both our second half goals after falling behind to a Kaine Felix goal just before halftime. That goal was Sams first in three years with his only other goal coming in the 6-0 home win against Tamworth way, way back in September 2016.

That result came after a poor home defeat to Boston Utd a few days earlier and more or less proved the point that we’re better away from home. So we now need to take this better away form to Moss lane tomorrow and hopefully come back with another three points to set us up nicely for the Hereford FC double header.

Even with all this time off we still have a number of injuries in the Aggborough camp. Richard Peniket and Ed Williams have both been out for a while with Peniket being treated for groin and ankle injuries while Ed has a pulled hamstring. Both are back in training now but it might be too early for them.

Ashley Hemmings had his foot stamped on against Boston and could also miss out on the trip to a team he spent a short time with until he joined up with us in mid October. There’s better news for Declan Weeks after he damaged his toe at Guiseley and he might be fit to play.

Altrincham seem to be better off than us on the injury front with only John Johnston in doubt with the hamstring injury that kept him out of their 2-0 home FA Trophy replay defeat to Farsley Celtic on Tuesday evening. Johnston has impressed Harriers fans in previous meetings with his speed and crossing ability so if he is out we won’t miss him.

With Christmas coming up we face a deluge of games in a short space of time so to get it all off to a good start with three points will be a Christmas present that would look good under anyones Christmas tree.

It could also be our first double of the season too after we beat them 2-0 at Aggborough in September although it’s also our first return game of the season so that’s a bit inconsequential.
