10-09-21 – Preview – Kidderminster Harriers Vs Gateshead

Gateshead, who lost at Leamington FC in midweek, are the visitors to Aggborough tomorrow in what will be seen as another tough game. The Heed were one of the four unbeaten clubs in our league but that defeat leaves just AFC Fylde, Brackley Town and ourselves with that honour. We’ll be playing both those teams in the coming weeks so hopefully there’ll be just the one team left unbeaten. Us!

In Gatesheads’ Tuesday evening defeat they squandered a first half lead through Cedwyn Scott to two second half Leamington goals. The defeat dropped them down to sixth place in the league so they’ll be looking to climb back up again at our expense.

We’ll be hoping to keep our record intact without Mark Carrington, Ethan Freemantle and Cliff Moyo. Carrington was sent off in the 0-0 draw at Guiseley last Saturday for a reckless challenge that could have broken Lewis Heys’ leg and he’ll miss three games now following the straight red.

Cliff is still out long term injured but to make up for the lack of Carrington we do have Amari Morgan-Smith back following his five match ban. He could come in for Ethan Freemantle after he missed out last Saturday with a knee ligament injury. Nyal Bell, who came in for Freemantle, struggled to make an impression and he could find himself back on the bench in favour of AMS.  

Gateshead will definitely be without Danny Greenfield (broken bone in  foot) and also Luke Williams with the same injury. Jack Hunter has an ankle ligament injury while Elliott Forbes is returning from injury but tomorrow could be too early for him. Against Leamington they had just four substitutes on the bench of which one was a keeper.

So far all our games have been against some tough opposition and this one is no different. Our defenders need to be just as on the ball as they were at Guiseley if they want to keep another clean sheet and up front whoever plays there needs to be the sharp fox in the box.
