25-08-19 – Preview – Kettering Town Vs Kidderminster Harriers

The Harriers go into this game at Kettering Town quickly in the wake of another defeat, our third of the season, at home to Chester FC. We have yet to win a home game having drawn against Leamington and losing to Gloucester City while our away form is slightly better with two wins and a loss so tomorrow, at least, we’ll have form on our side, if nothing else.

Against Chester we looked clueless at times although we did get a couple of chances to score. We should have done so right at the end but with an open goal at his mercy Ashley Chambers sidefooted the ball wide when all he needed to do was blow it over the line like in a game of blow football. Chester took the lead through a well worked goal early doors and never really looked like losing the game with their well drilled team in full control.

Declan Weeks picked up an early groin strain in the game and had to go off soon after their goal and he could be doubtful for tomorrows game. Tom Palmer and James O’Connor could also still be out meaning that we’re going to have a weak bench once again as Alex Prosser will more than likely replace Weeks.

Kettering lost at Leamington yesterday and now sit five places below us in nineteenth place. Their only win came on the opening day at home to AFC Telford Utd and since then they’ve only picked up one point with that coming at home to Chester. One former Red plays for them and that’s Daniel Nti with two goals for the Poppies so far.  

With the temperatures forecast to be in the 80’s again, and very little cover, it looks like it’s going to be tough out there for both players and fans alike. Let’s hope it’s all made worthwhile for the travelling hordes and we come back with an impressive win to take us back up the table again.
