06-12-19 - Preview - Kidderminster Harriers Vs Boston Utd

Ryan Johnson
Grabbed his first goal of the season against Gateshead

The Harriers face another tough encounter tomorrow when Boston Utd become the third side in a row to come to Aggborough for a league game. It’s also a game that we will be wanting to win at least.

On Tuesday evening we gained our first home point since beating Farsley Celtic on October 22nd. The draw came against Gateshead with Ryan Johnson scoring his first goal of the season but soon after the Heed went on to equalise. An onslaught on their goal in the second half didn’t get us that vital second goal but we did come close although our shooting wasn’t the best.

Early in the game Ed Williams went off with what looked like a hamstring tweak. It’s to be hoped that was just a precaution because we were already without Milan Butterfield with a shoulder injury and we can’t afford to be too short on numbers without having to raid the academy.

Boston come to us sitting in seventh place in the table with a couple of games in hand on the teams above them. That’s down to their good run in the FA Cup that saw them draw with League One side Rochdale AFC and now facing a home tie against Newcastle Utd if they can win the replay at the Jakemans Stadium in two weeks time.

They have an ex player of ours in Dominic Knowles who signed for them from Harrogate Town last season. They have a couple of known injuries with the continued absences of Simon Ainge and Alex Penny. Yesterday they re-signed former player Dayle Southwell on loan from FC Halifax Town until the New Year while defender Demeaco Duhaney has been recalled by his parent club Huddersfield Town.

With the perceived improvement of enthusiasm by the players under Russ Penn this is a game that we hope they can also regain their confidence in front of goal in. It would be good to see Ashley Chambers end his goal drought that has been ongoing since he scored at Spennymoor Town at the end of September.
