Russ Penn will once again have to rally the troops for tomorrow evenings tough game at Boston Utd following yet another home defeat on Saturday. To be honest we knew we were on to a loser when Darlington FC announced five strikers, that have scored a collective twenty three goals in nineteen games, in their squad. Our strikers, in comparison, have scored just fifteen in twenty and were never going to catch up with that in the 2-1 defeat that saw the visitors dominating.
Weirdly by this stage, after twenty games, last season we had won nine games, the same amount of games that we have this season, and drawn four. Again the same amount as last season. Yet we don’t seem to be anywhere near as good. As I said it’s weird!
We might start to see some of the injured army returning soon but it won’t be for this Boston game. Instead we might see a return to a lone striker upfront along with a more defensive look as Penn tries to stem the flow. Sadly we don’t seem to have that striker capable of being a lone one at the moment and that includes Yusifu Ceesay who’s supposed to be a winger.
Boston will be without Zak Mills and Luke Shiels, both hamstring injuries. Zak Goodson has a broken wrist, Jordan Burrow an ankle problem and Jaanai Gordon has a knee injury. Jake Wright missed their 1-1 draw at Peterborough Sports on Saturday with a groin injury so he may miss out too.
We can only hope that this is going to help us in some way but really it’s up to our own players to get their act back together and hopefully bring back a point or three home to Worcestershire.
