This is the last game in a run of Saturday/Tuesday games that has seen us play twice a week for the past three weeks and in that time we’ve had a mix of results that has reaped three wins, a draw and also, sadly, two defeats. In total we’ve gained eleven points from a possible eighteen that see’s us in second place in the table. Tomorrow at Chorley FC we have to improve on that by getting all three points from a ground that it’s notoriously difficult to get anything from in the first place.
Hopefully we’ll do it with Amari Morgan-Smith back up front for us now that his enforced sidelining for concussion has come to an end. We should also have Ashley Hemmings for one more week with his red card ban, from Tuesday evenings home draw to Chester FC, not coming into force until the FA Cup game against Leek Town on September 14th.
In addition to the long term injury to Ben Beresford we could possibly be without Alex Penny and Paul Downing too. They both missed the Chester game and Alex has been for a scan today, believed to be on his troublesome knee. They’ll both be assessed before the game to see if they can play but at least we have Reiss McNally standing by ready.
Chorley have been turning in some decent results so far and with just the one defeat, at home to Scarborough Athletic, they stand in sixth place. They’ll be the first team that we’ve faced that play a route one type of game so we’ll need to adapt our game a bit to counter that.
We could be in for an interesting game.
