31-01-20 - Preview - Kings Lynn Town Vs Kidderminster Harriers

Back from suspension and ready to go?

We’re now two thirds of the way into the season and time is beginning to run out for us if we want to make an overdue, concerted, effort in escaping relegation. Another defeat away at Boston Utd last Saturday didn’t help matters and a trip back up to Kings Lynn, roughly in the same area, is the last thing we need at this stage.

Top of the table Linnetts have been pretty well un-beatable this season with just two reversals in the league at the hands of Guiseley on the opening day and York City at the end of September and both away from home. They are unbeaten at home and have also only lost three league games at home in the past three seasons. For us to go to The Walks and win will be something approaching a miracle.

Clutching at straws but in our favour we did go to equally high placed York and get a draw although, ironically, that was spoiled by then losing at home to Kings Lynn three days later in what was our worst home defeat of the season to date.

Thankfully we’ll have Rhys Williams back for the game tomorrow now that his three game suspension has come to an end. He might start from the bench but if he’s in the starting eleven then it’ll be interesting to see who will make way for him. We only have Declan Weeks out injured and it’s about time he came back from his toe injury. It’s been a while since he last played, at Guiseley in December, and it’s now starting to become a bit of a worry why he’s taking so long to recover.

Lynn will be without a handful of players with long term injuries. Michael Clunan, Ryan Fryatt and Chris Smith are some way off returning while Ross Barrows has now been added to the list with a shoulder injury and could miss the game. That leaves them short on numbers having also released two players in the week, Harry Limb and Nathan Stewart were both released from their contracts by mutual consent. To compensate they’ve bought in Dayle Southwell on a free transfer from FC Halifax Town.

That move gives them a plethora of attacking options with leading scorer Adam Marriott, ex Harrier Michael Gash, Simon Power, on loan from Norwich City, and now Southwell too.

Good Harriers defending must be the priority and then hit them on the break. It looks to be the only way we’ll win this game.
