Date: 27-01-24 Match preview Vs Dagenham & Redbridge FC Venue: Victoria Road Kick off: 15:00hrs |
Preview: Phil Lench
Happy days are here again and we’re now looking forwards to every game we play. Gone is the boring, cautious football and in is the pressing football of Phil Brown that’s getting us fans onto the edge of our seats. At long last.
Tuesday evening and it was three points off a shell shocked Hartlepool Utd who thought they only had to turn up against a quote: “Beaten at home by an appalling team” and collect the free points we were about to hand over to them. Sorry Monkey Hanger but your team was clueless and didn’t know how to handle our perseverance and commitment to the cause. That’s why you lost (and yet another Ashley Hemmings goal).
We now go the other way and head down to East London and a tough game against a Dagenham & Redbridge side that have now won their second home game in a row although there is a gap from Boxing Day and last Tuesday evening between those games. The game the other evening at home to Dorking Wanderers was down to a late, late winner from Inih Effiong to double his goal tally to two on the night.
We seem to have come away from Tuesday with everyone in good shape so it’s just Sam Robinson, Joe Leesley and Nathaniel Knight-Percival out injured. Phil Brown has already mentioned a bit of squad rotation due to fatigue and a couple of ‘aging players’ and bought on Christian Oxlade Chamberlain for a few minutes towards the end of the game so we might get to see Kieran Phillips and Gerry McDonagh at some stage.
The feeling is good around, both, the camp and the fans and I can see another win coming our way in this unbeaten run of games since the arrival of a new manager. Bring it on!
STOP PRESS: Aaron Harper-Bailey comes in from West Brom on a month long loan.
