20-02-23. Match preview Vs Chorley FC

Preview: Phil Lench

It’s ‘the team in the play-offs’ v ‘the team not in the play-offs’ tomorrow evening when the Harriers travel up to Chorley FC to lock horns with the seventh placed club (they’re the ones in the play-offs). With the Harriers two points behind them we could overtake them to become the team in the play-offs but we’ll have played one more game than them.

If we did it could possibly be short lived anyway with both Alfreton Town and Banbury Utd having games in hand – three for Alfreton and a whopping five for Banbury and only four points behind us. On Saturday Banbury became the latest part time minnow to claim three easy points from Aggborough in a 2-0 win.

To say we were pathetic would be an understatement and many fans showed their displeasure towards the team and the management by either leaving ten minutes before the end or booing. Some were also believed to have verbally abused some players in a nasty way that should not be condoned at any time.

For that game we had yet another mysterious injury when it was announced that Krystian Pearce would miss his first game of the season. Joe McGlynn was also missing injured and was believed to be back at Burnley, his parent club, having a hip flexor injury attended to. At least we had Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Alex Penny back from injury while Caleb Richards was out there warming up following his training ground injury from a month ago. Joe Leesley is still out long term.

The same day Chorley were up at Farsley Celtic battling out a scoreless draw. They were without midfielders Will Tomlinson, Callum Schorah, Mike Calveley and defender Matt Challoner. Calveley was out suspended but he should be available to them tomorrow.

It’s a known fact that while our home form is ridiculously bad our away form is equally ridiculously good. Will it be good enough to beat Chorley on their cabbage patch tomorrow? Doubtful because we never seem to get much joy up there but a draw could be a good bet.
