19-01-24. Kidderminster Harriers vs Aldershot Town. Match preview

Preview: Phil Lench

It’s the first game of the new Phil Brown era against Aldershot Town tomorrow and he’s now been joined by Neil McDonald as his assistant. Brown was watching the game against Altrincham last Saturday and has now had a week to run the rule over his new charges.

He may have liked what he saw but he also may not have liked some of them and to fuel that in comes Sam Bellis on loan from Barrow AFC, one of Browns former clubs. The young striker will be here up until the end of the season according to our official website.

Our only real doubt for tomorrow is Sam Robinson who looked to have a hamstring injury against Altrincham and could be out for a while

Probably the most important thing for the fan arriving at Aggborough tomorrow is what are we expecting. With both our lead coaches ex defenders will we be seeing a repeat of the Penn and O’Connor years with a team set up defensively at the start of the game but then go more attacking once we go a goal or two behind. Will we play it long or pass it around? or will we be seeing a team that haven’t a clue what they’re supposed to be doing as in the Jimmy Shan period?

The least we can ask is that they understand the instructions given and just try hard to get a positive result.

We’ll be without Bailey Hobson though following his recall to Chesterfield yesterday even after being given permission to stay with us until mid February. The rumour at Chesterfield is that he will be going back out on loan to either Notts County or Doncaster Rovers instead. Coming back home is Kieran Phillips from his loan spell with Havant & Waterlooville and Brown has already said that he wants a proper look at him.

Aldershot come here on the back of a massive 6-1 defeat in the FA Trophy at Bishops Stortford last Saturday while our game against Alty was going to penalties. In the league they’re up in tenth place with a chance to go sixth if it all goes their way. It’s up to us to make sure that doesn’t happen and it’s also up to us to make sure that we make sure that this new era under Phil Brown gets off to a good start with a win.
