A good friend of the Harriers manager, Phil Brown, Neil McDonald joined him as his assistant manager soon after Phil took over from Russ Penn in January 2024. With a career at the top that took in Newcastle Utd, Everton and Bolton Wanderers Neil moved easily into coaching once his playing career came to an end in 1998 and then a few years after into management with Carlisle Utd in 2006. Before he came to Aggborough he was the assistant manager at Bengaluru FC in India.
