Date: 16-08-22 Match preview Vs Curzon Ashton Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs |
Preview: Phil Lench
The Harriers will be hoping to build on Saturdays game at home to Leamington FC tomorrow evening when Curzon Ashton pay us a visit. The Leamington game saw the Reds lay siege to Callum Hawkins goal but the young keeper, on loan from Burton Albion, was on top of his game and everything that we threw at him he saved. I swear I saw Tom Owen-Evans come out after half time with a kitchen sink.
Tom hit the post twice and could have bagged himself a hat trick, Joe Foulkes saw a piledriver saved, Nathan Lowe kept trying from long range. Oh, and Ashley Hemmings missed a penalty. The game ended goalless but could easily have been four or five in our favour so we’ll now have to repeat the effort at home to Curzon.
So far Curzon have been on the wrong end of two games. At home to newly promoted Banbury Utd they lost 2-1 while at another new club on Saturday, Buxton FC, they lost 1-0. Their goal on the opening day was scored by the former Altrincham striker, Tom Peers.
They seem to be without any injury problems while we have Amari Morgan-Smith and Alex Penny still awaiting a return. AMS isn’t too far away with his groin injury now over the worst while Alex has some time to go before being given the all clear for the small spinal fracture that he picked up doing weights in the gym pre-season. He should follow my lead in keeping away from gyms.
In the corresponding game last March we won 5-0. It would be good to see a similar score line tomorrow evening.
