| Date: 08-02-25 Match preview Vs Chorley FC Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 15:00hrs |

Preview:Phil Lench
With the Reds going through a bit of a hiccup at the moment it’s time to put things right when Chorley FC arrive at Aggborough tomorrow. Following a good run over the Christmas period when we won eight out of nine games we suddenly slumped and in the three games since that run came to an end we’ve lost two and drawn one with the last defeat coming against Sutton Utd in the FA Trophy last Saturday.

The Magpies come to us on the back of a thumping 3-0 home win against Buxton FC on Tuesday evening and on the previous Tuesday they went to Scarborough Athletic and, just as we did by the same scoreline, beat them 3-2 at theirs. Back in September we lost 2-1 at the Victoria Ground after taking an early lead through Zak Brown but didn’t build on our dominance and paid the price in conceding two goals from set pieces before and after the break.
Our past few results have seen us slip off the top place down to fourth but we do have games in hand and it’s now time that we pulled our socks up and got some positive results under our belts starting tomorrow.
We’ll be without Joe Foulkes, Luke Summerfield, Alex Penny and Ben Beresford without any sign of any of them returning just yet. With Beresford missing we were in dire need of a support striker and bought one in from last week from Aston Villa. The nineteen year old isn’t quite what we, the fans, were expecting.
We would have preferred to see someone with experience in the goal scoring department and with a little more experience but that didn’t happen. Instead we got a rookie and we’ll have to make do with that and hope that he turns out to be another Beresford who scored three goals in six games before his injury.
The Villa youngster is Charlie Lutz and he came on towards the end of the Sutton game but didn’t really have much of a chance to show what he could do. He did look a little lightweight but a few weeks in the mens game should put a bit of muscle and resilience in him.
With a visit to table topping Chester FC coming up on Tuesday we need to get back on the saddle and three points tomorrow will go a long way in that respect.
STOP PRESS: A central defender comes in on loan from Derby County. 19yr old Keilen Robinson is that man.
