02-12-19 – Preview – Kidderminster Harriers Vs Gateshead

Following yet another disastrous result at home to Southport on Saturday we have the chance to follow that up with another game tomorrow evening against Gateshead. Again at home.

With  three home games in quick succession, we have Boston Utd at Aggborough on Saturday, it was to be hoped that a good run would happen to propel us up the table and even more so with a new manager at the helm even though he’s only doing the job temporarily.

Russ Penns first game in charge, following the sacking of John Pemberton, against Southport was a bit of a damp squib for Harriers fans – in fact it was yet another damp squib – as we struggled to put anything like a game plan together. The solitary ‘Port goal came from yet another chance for them as they pressured our defenders and new keeper throughout the game. Unlike us continually trying to score from long range they got into our faces and it paid off.

Gateshead will be coming to us on the back of a narrow defeat at Kings Lynn on Saturday making it four straight defeats in a row for the Heed. In the league a 3-0 away loss at Altrincham , a 2-1 home defeat against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup but the worst was reserved for the FA Trophy when they crashed out 1-0 at our near neighbours Halesowen Town. All those still leaves them in eleventh place in the table though compared to our, frankly, embarrassing eighteenth.

As far as I know neither of us have any injury worries but it will be cold out there tomorrow evening so wrap up warm. You never know a decent performance might warm us up but take something to read too, you might need it.
