24-01-20 - Preview - Boston Utd Vs Kidderminster Harriers

The Harriers face two tough away games in a row now with the first of those being a last ever visit to York Street, the crumbling home of Boston Utd. If we go there next season it’ll be to the new Community Stadium that’s in the process of being built on the Quadrant development area South of the town. The second game a week later is at table toppers Kings Lynn Town.

On Tuesday evening Boston got lucky in beating Brackley Town at home after Brackley had them almost on their knees only for former Harrier Dominic Knowles to pop up with a last minute winner. Last Saturday, while we were playing out a draw at home to Spennymoor Town, Boston were storming to victory at Southport and consolidating themselves in the play-off places.

Taking a break from the game and from the Harriers

We looked better than we have in recent weeks against Spennymoor but our old failing, one of them, still remains with a tendency to faff around too much in front of goal while in comparison the Moors were more direct in scoring their goal through fast, incisive passing and getting bodies into the area. We tend to rely too much on the lone striker still.

There was a debut for Austin Samuels and he did well enough to convince the fans that he could be good for us while we have yet to see Samir Nabi as he stayed on the bench. We were promised another new face in soon and that has yet to materialise but we have lost the services of Richard Peniket after he left the club this week to take a break from the game for a while. It hasn’t really worked out for him in his second spell with the club so it may be for the best anyway.

We might still have a couple of injuries with Declan Weeks and Ed Williams both still missing and also Rhys Williams still out serving the last day of his three match ban. Ashley Hemmings will be up against one of his former clubs.

For Boston they could be without their York City loanee Jake Wright who has been missing the last few games with a shoulder injury.

In the corresponding game at Aggborough a few weeks ago it was manager Jimmy Shans first game in charge and it didn’t turn out too well. Shan cannot be held to blame for the dismal performance that saw hundreds of fans streaming out of the ground ten minutes before the end of a demoralising 1-3 defeat but at least we are seeing an improvement now and can be sure that we’ll give them more of a game this time round.
