21-12-18 - Preview - Kidderminster Harriers Vs Curzon Ashton

After what has seemed an eternity since we played Brackley Town, and won, we’re now back at Aggborough two weeks later and looking for another win to keep us in touch with the top. That top place changed hands again last Saturday with Chorley the only team to play due to others FA Trophy commitments. They beat Darlington 3-2 to regain the leadership from Bradford PA.

During our rest period very little has occurred off field with the only news being a fully fit squad meaning that groin casualty James O’Connor is once again fully fit. No new players have come in apart from the recent arrivals of Aaron Phillips and George Waring so our squad still remains thin on the ground.

Curzon Ashton, our opponents tomorrow, were also without a game last weekend and on the day we were beating Brackley they were going down 2-0 at FC Utd of Manchester in their first game under new manager Mark Bradshaw. He was appointed hours after the dismissal of John Flanagan who had been sacked for poor recent results following his seven years in charge of the Tameside club.

The injury situation with Curzon isn’t known but they will have Mohammed Ali missing after he was sent off at FCUM last time out.

This game will be our first ‘return’ game of the season with us having already played at Curzon at the end of August. A late goal from Ashley Chambers earned a point for us after we had earlier seen Joe Ironside miss a penalty and then a chance to win the game lost when Kane Richards also missed a spot kick in injury time.

In our home game last season we had also ended up drawing the game after being in the lead until two minutes from time. This time we need to get a win under our belts and this time if we get awarded a penalty we also need to put it away.

What better start to Christmas could we hope for with a win under our belts. We could then go into the festive double header against Hereford FC with confidence and good spirit.
