Date: 22-10-24 Match preview Vs Marine AFC Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs |
Preview:Phil Lench
After finally getting a long overdue away win at Needham Market FC on Saturday the Harriers can now return to Aggborough in the hope of getting their first home league win since beating Oxford City 4-0 way, way back in August. Frankly that’s a poor statistic for a club that were supposedly hoping for a quick return to the National League.
A brace for Ashley Hemmings, bracketed round David Davis’ first goal for the club, gained us the points in Suffolk against poor opposition but we still seemed to make hard work of it on occasions but by the end of the game it was ‘job done’. Manager Phil Brown seemed happier with the result following his strong words after the FA Cup exit against Guiseley AFC two weeks ago.
The only real downer is the news that we might be losing the services of Alex Penny when it was revealed that he cannot easily travel to away games due to a back problem. Hopefully that can be resolved but if true then it really is a major setback. There is now also a worry with Joe Foulkes after he limped off at Needham with what looked like a minor ankle injury but that should be ok come game time.
There’s still no real progress with the return of Paul Downing either so we’re lacking cover back there although Reece Devine, turning in a man of the match performance, and Kam Kandola both did well so we do have that silver lining to help us through.
Marine come to us in their first season at this level and in their side is the former Harrier Regan Griffiths. He’ll be looking to show us what we may have missed out on after he was surprisingly released at the end of last season. Problem is he can’t be doing much for his new club with them second from bottom in the table.
More of what we saw on Saturday then we could be getting that long overdue home win. But then again?
