Finally arrives at Aggborough

Just days after the change of ownership for the Harriers the fans finally had confirmation of the signing that had been rumoured for months. Today Ashley Hemmings officially arrived at the club from AFC Fylde even though he had originally been thought to have signed for us quite a while back.

The talk is that he was at the club in the lead up to the Tuesday evening game at home to Brackley Town at the beginning of September and was about to sign when word came that it wasn’t going to go ahead following a last minute intervention from someone that holds the purse strings at Aggborough. With the club in takeover talks it was rumoured that all financial movement was on hold and so the signing would not be allowed to go ahead.

Hemmings had then just gone out on loan to Altrincham for a second time but was seeking a complete move from Fylde and that was something that Altrincham couldn’t accommodate. With the move to us seemingly dead and buried it was filed under yet another Harriers cock-up. Until Friday just gone when Altrincham announced that he had been re-called by Fylde with a view to a full time club.

Two’s and two’s were put together and it was presumed that it could only mean one thing and that was the deal was back on.

Hemmings has arrived here on an eighteen month deal that will take his contract up until the end of the 2021-22 season. He will be in the squad for Tuesday evenings home game to high riding Farsley Celtic.
