Will we get to see the talented Joe in a Harriers shirt again

Ware have form in cup replays this season – they equalised at the death against Hemel Hempstead Town in the Second Qualifying Round before beating them in the midweek replay 1-0 at odds of 8/1. I’d imagine they would be priced up similarly, if the bookies offer it that is, given the two league gap between the sides and Harriers being at home.

Talking of being at home one would hope, nay expect, Harriers to use that to their advantage. For the first time in this season’s FA Cup, we will play a game on grass (remember that?) and, whilst by no means is it an excuse that the pitch was artificial, it’s certainly undeniable that there was a heck of a lot of zip and pace in Saturday’s game.

That first game saw Harriers storm out of the blocks thanks to Amari Morgan-Smith’s first goal since his strike against Brackley Town last season which nobody saw courtesy of their “excellent” stream… For the first twenty minutes or so on Saturday Harriers were excellent and probably should’ve put the game to bed but Paul Halsey’s Ware side dominated Harriers in the second half and finally got their reward when they got an equaliser a few minutes before time.

Yes, there was a handball in the build up but let’s gloss over that as they should’ve had a penalty when Alex Penny blocked a cross with his arm. The fact that Penny stopped and looked at the referee before realising he’d got away with it should tell you everything you need to know about that decision!

Harriers may be without Lewis Montrose and Omari Sterling-James following their injuries up at AFC Fylde, whilst Cliff Moyo is still a few months away from action, one suspects.

Sadly, it looks like we’ve seen the last of Walsall loanee Joe Foulkes who suffered what seems to be a serious knee injury in Saturday’s game after he was taken out from behind and suffered a heavy landing. He’ll head back to The Saddlers for treatment and undertake his rehabilitation, and you hope it doesn’t become a big setback in what could be a very good career for the 18 year old – he certainly seems to be talented enough.

Should Harriers get through this replay on Tuesday, they will visit the winners of Bedfont Sports and Sholing FC, both Step 4 sides. Their game on Saturday saw Sholing come from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 at Bedfont so it should be an interesting replay in any case.

Surely this is our best chance to reach the First Round in some time and we can finally call this a cup run.
