We’re quickly back into action following that New Years Day defeat to the bottom club Rushall Olympic. To easily beat two better clubs over the Christmas period, in Southport and Hereford FC, then go and turn in a rare bad performance takes some accepting for the fans but accept it we do.

Following the Kings Lynn defeat in November we then buckled down and went on a great run that took us to the very top of the table so we now need to buckle down and progress in the FA Trophy at the expense of Slough Town.

We got past AFC Fylde in round three and we now come up against a team that we haven’t played since our Vauxhall Conference days in 1998. As you can see below we’ve played them fifteen times over the years and won just the four times with four draws. It’s seven in the defeats column so tomorrow we have to improve on those figures.

Slough play at the same level as us, basically, in the National South and sit in eleventh place at the minute. On Wednesday they suffered a heavy 5-1 reversal at Boreham Wood and they’ll also be looking to bounce back from defeat. Looking at their squad profiles they have no one that really stands out apart from Slavi Spasov who played for Banbury Utd against us a couple of times.

We have no new injuries AFAIK so it will probably be the same starting eleven again.

Against Hereford the shoot on sight policy worked well but against Rushall that was completely forgotten and we adopted a don’t shoot on sight but pass it out wide instead. You guessed right, it didn’t work, so we need to get back to the pro-active way of playing and we should then, hopefully, be making our way into the next round of the FA Trophy.
