We’ll definitely be without Shane Byrne for the first of these August Bank Holiday double headers when we go down to Ebbsfleet to play Utd. On Monday their near neighbours, Maidenhead Utd, come up to Aggborough for our first ever meeting with them.

We’ve met up with Ebbsfleet many times though in this incarnation and also their previous life as Gravesend & Northfleet. I prefer Ebbsfleet because it’s less of a mouthful.

In fact I’m writing this piece right now from their neck of the woods because me and her are spending time in Canterbury and will be calling in to the game on the way back home. So while here I’m doing some scouting and I reckon we have nothing to worry about. Says he 🙂

As well as being without Shane we could still be without our rock at the back, Matt Preston, and now we also have a possible injury to Joe Leesley after he went down holding his knee at the end of last Saturdays 0-0 draw at home to Bromley FC (another club from this neck of the woods. When was the last time we played clubs from Kent three times consecutively? Just have to be glad Dover Athletic are no longer in this division.

We’ll also be without Jack Lambert after he picked up two yellow cards last week, only one was deserved though, and he’ll miss the game through suspension. We should be starting with new loan signing Barry Maguire after he came on at half time against Bromley and looked very good.

The Fleet are doing ok having won two, lost two, but came a right cropper up at Gateshead last week going down 4-1 in in an error strewn game on their part. No doubt that’s been worked on during the week so they should be able to cope with our lack of ability hitting the back of the net. A new striker had been hoped for but so far has not materialised.

Hopefully we can get a positive result there tomorrow. Be even better if we scored a shed load of goals.
