31-07-17 - Junior and Josh join up

Two more new players came into the club today with the arrival of Jean-Michel Joachim and Josh Webb on short term contracts. Strictly speaking Webb isn’t all that new to us having been originally signed, then released, at the end of last season.

The Halesowen born defender was invited back for pre-season training and has excelled when he has played in various friendlies. He’ll probably start at full back and then be utilised as cover once Lee Vaughan makes his comeback from his broken leg. More importantly this has to mean that Sam Austin will never be seen playing in the full back position ever again. Nothing against Sam but he will never be a defender.

Joachim, known to his mother as Junior, is a French born player from Les Ulis just South of Paris. In fact he was born only a few miles from Corbeil-Essones which is where Elton N’Gwatala hails from. So at least they can talk to each other and share the same dialect.

Junior started his career with AS Nancy before being sent out on loan to US Boulogne for a short while. He was then released to join up with Luxembourg based FC Wiltz 71 for the 2015-16 season. He left there to try his luck in England and after a short trial with Carlisle Utd he joined them from March this year after the money to pay his wages was raised by a crowdfunding scheme.

He has been on trial here for all of the pre-season games and that has now paid off for him with a short term contract too.

So it’s welcome to the club Junior and welcome back to Josh.
