29-11-21 - News - Boston Utd away in the FA Trophy

The Harriers reward for winning our FA Trophy game at Hereford FC on Saturday is a long trip to Boston Utd for the 3rd round tie. It won’t be just that game we’ll be going all that way for either because we’re going there the previous week too in the league. Sometimes you have to think that someone up there has got it in for us. Couldn’t we at least have been given the benefit of a home tie?

On Saturday we went through on penalties at a windswept, freezing cold, dilapidated Edgar Street with rookie winger Jaiden White scoring the decisive penalty after goalkeeper Luke Simpson had saved Herefords third penalty. After that we were all hoping to be given a winnable home game for a change but it isn’t to be and we now have to travel to Lincolnshire twice within the week and a trip to Curzon Ashton in between too.

Boston made their way into the next round with a brilliant, and un-expected win, at Brackley Town on Saturday. They went into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to Danny Elliott and Shane Byrne but Brackley pulled one back through Lee Ndlovu shortly after the restart. Boston then had Scott Duxberry dismissed for two yellow cards later on but that didn’t affect their win and now they will be facing us on December 18th.

Hopefully we’ll have already given them the jitters by winning the previous week and the Trophy game will just be to rub salt into their wounds but that’s just my hopes running away with me. We might be able to get a draw at their brand new ground and then go through on penalties again though.

Still my hopes are running away with me.
