29-09-23. Kidderminster Harriers Vs Barnet FC. Match preview

Preview: Phil Lench

The Harriers go into this game against Barnet FC with a load of injuries to cope with. Most of them are defensive with Reiss McNally, Nathaniel Knight-Percival, Matt Preston and possibly Alex Penny all out or doubtful. The middle two – NKP and Preston – are both out for a while with NKP out with a slight groin injury while Matt’s groin injury that he got in the second game of the season is slowly getting better and he’s about to start training now.

McNally and Penny are the ones we don’t know much about with Reiss suddenly not appearing and Alex being treated on the pitch following Tuesday evenings home defeat to Oldham Athletic. It looked worrying seeing so many medics gathered around him but he was cleared as ok later on so hopefully he’ll be with us this weekend. The other injury is to midfielder Jack Lambert with a thigh muscle tear that could see him out for a while.

We will have Joe Leesley back though after he missed the Oldham game due to a five yellow suspension. That game saw us much improved over recent weeks and was possible our best performance of the season. A home debut goal for Bailey Hobson was sandwiched between Oldhams two goals but we had more of the possession without making it count. Again it was plain to see that we need a decent striker.

We now have to take that improvement into tomorrows game against high flying Barnet and hope that we can knock them off their third place perch. They were at the top for three weeks earlier in the season but have flatlined in third for the last four games.

A good win against the Bees could see us climb from bottom place in the table up to the heady heights of twenty first if Southend Utd, AFC Fylde and Maidenhead Utd all fail to pick up points. We can only but hope.

STOP PRESS: Harriers have added defender Sam Robinson to the ranks in time for the game tomorrow. He last played for Port Vale.

Referee: Mr Aji Ajibola. Dartford
