6-10-18 - Preview - Guiseley AFC Vs Kidderminster Harriers

Again we’re saying that the Harriers have to get back on track with their season.

Up against the Harriers

A few weeks ago it was following the Stourbridge game but that was just getting ourselves knocked out of the FA Cup. Last Saturday it was for a completely different reason after the team stuck at the bottom of the league, FC Utd of Manchester with only one win all season, played us off the park to take home all three points. ‘Played us off the park’ could be a bit strong seeing as we were decent enough up front. It was at the back and in midfield where we were a shambles.

We’ve looked defensively poor all season and too many goals have been given away due to lack of communication and also a lack of commitment from some. Our midfield is also equally culpable with no one there able to break up an opposition attack so leaving the defence exposed.

The fans are crying out for someone in the Ryan Croasdale/Kyle Storer mould but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. Meanwhile we send out two first team players (midfielder and defender) on loan and stick kids on the bench.

Tomorrow we’ll be up against a team managed by one of the best defenders ever to wear the red shirt. Marcus Bignot is now the man jointly at the helm with Russ O’Neil at Guiseley after he was given the task of getting them back up to the Conference Premier in May following their relegation last season. So far he’s steadied the ship and has them situated in mid table but they’re slowly climbing the current form table in sixth place.

They’ve recruited well this season with the former Hereford defender Kingsley James coming in from Chester FC, Cliff Moyo from FC Halifax and the confirmation of the former Cheltenham and Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi for a further season. He is getting on in years now though.

Guiseley have no known injuries and neither have we, so far.
