25-02-22 - Preview - Farsley Celtic AFC Vs Kidderminster Harriers

Preview: Phil Lench

The Harriers take on Farsley Celtic tomorrow in a game that, on paper, we should win but in reality we all know that it could be a banana skin that could leave us in shock that a team at the very bottom of the league could dare to beat one of the best teams in the division. Hopefully that won’t be the case and we turn up and fight for the points out of respect for a fellow club.

The season has been one of disappointment for the Leeds based club. Strapped for cash and operating on small crowds doesn’t help but tomorrow, at least, we can do our bit when the ‘Harriers Massive’ travel North on at least three coaches and a motorway full of cars in the hope that we can beat their season high of 804 that they achieved when Darlington FC turned up. With just three home wins they’ll also be wanting to impress their own fans.

On Tuesday evening, as we were beating Boston Utd, they were away at Gateshead and as expected came home without the points when the Heed beat them 3-1. Meanwhile over at Aggborough we were inflicting the same scoreline on Boston. With Ashley Hemmings, Sam Austin and Amari Morgan-Smith all hitting the net it put all three on twelve goals each for the season so far. The race is now on for one of them to get their nose in front.

Geraldo Bajrami missed the game through injury but spent the evening with the fans behind the goal so he can’t be in too bad a condition and hopefully he’ll be back in action tomorrow. Apart from Cliff Moyo he was the only one missing because both Keziah Martin and Ethan Freemantle were on the bench with the latter coming on towards the end of the game.

For Farsley Tom Allan is unlikely to feature after being forced off through injury against Gloucester City but both Jerome Greaves and Dave Syers returned from injury in time to play at Gateshead. To strengthen the squad their manager, Russ Wilcox, bought in Lewis Butroid from Worksop Town a few days ago and soon after the former Harriers defender, Kennedy Digie, came in on a month long loan from Altrincham.

As always we’ll need to be at the top of our game if we want to increase the pressure on the two teams above us. With Gateshead at AFC Telford Utd there could be a bit of an upset there, hopefully, while we can only pray that Brackley have a rare bit of un-stucking at home to Bradford (PA) to make our day a better day.

See you there.

BTW: Now I have your attention please sign our virtual card to Matt Preston if you haven’t done so already. It’s very easy to do and completely safe but you only have until Sunday evening so don’t hesitate or you’ll be too late.
