Date: 13-04-24 Match preview Vs Eastleigh FC Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 15:00hrs |
Preview:Phil Lench

Back in the starting eleven tomorrow?
With just two more games left until the end of the season, and also two games left to guarantee our survival at this level, it’s going to need a bit more effort and commitment from the Harriers players if they have any desire to play in the National League next season. Last week at home to FC Halifax Town that desire and commitment was totally absent as we capitulated into yet another disappointing home game to lose 2-0 and without a single shot on target.
Another good crowd had turned out hoping to see three more points on our road to safety but they left in droves as the second goal went in and who could blame them. It appeared that the players hearts and minds had also left along with them and they had resigned themselves to fate without any fight whatsoever.
Phil Brown, in his match preview for tomorrows game at home to Eastleigh FC has promised changes but would it do any good? They were all as bad as each other in not wanting to fight for the cause last week.
What would these changes entail? Sam Bellis and Gold Omotayo back in the starting eleven? They haven’t impressed so far and don’t seem to have goals in them so what would be the point. In defence could Krystian Pearce return to the starting lineup after missing the last two games for reasons unknown. Where was Jack Lambert last Saturday?
It’s all seeming so predictable and we all seem to have accepted what the outcome will be. Unless, of course, we actually witness some kind of fight and pride from those chosen. Beat Eastleigh tomorrow and we could be full of hope that we could do the same in our final game at Barnet FC but then it’s all in the lap of the Gods and hope that the likes of Wealdstone FC, Boreham Wood, York City and Ebbsfleet Utd lose all their remaining games but that’s not going to happen is it?
On the injury front we know that Shane Byrne is out but we’ve had no information regarding others although Alex Penny did pull up with a hamstring tweak at the end of the Halifax game. Thay could be where Pearce could return. Apart from those two we’re still very close to having a full squad to pick from though so whoever does get the nod then they have to perform to the best of their abilities and make sure that we try our best.
