Date: 11-07-23 1st friendly at Droitwich ends in a win

1Droitwich Spa FCKidderminster Harriers FC2

The Harriers played out their first friendly of the close season at Droitwich Spa FC this evening and came away with a first half 2-1 win. Stunning goals from new signing Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain and old master Ashley Hemmings, at the start and end of the half, was enough to give us the win.

For the hosts a penalty given away by Nathaniel Knight-Percival and converted by Connor Collins was their consolation. They did have a youngster, Perry Moss, who looked very good and is playing well below his level.

Standouts for us were Ox, Leesley, Hewett and Hemmings while Alex Penny seemed to be struggling with an injury as he was seen rubbing his knee quite often.

1st half team: Palmer, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Penny, Knight-Percival, Downs, Brown, Leesley, Hall, Hemmings, McDonagh, Hewett.

Second half the team put out by Russ Penn looked better balanced but failed to score even though Kieran Phillips tried hard and came close to scoring a few times. Kai Lissimore and Jack Lambert also came close but the ‘small and stocky’ keeper for Droitwich saved remarkably well.

There was also a welcome back to Matt Preston this half and he was assured in defence and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sign terms by tea time tomorrow.

This half the stand outs were Maginness, Preston, McNally and Phillips.

2nd half team: Dibble, Richards, Maginness, Preston, Pearce, McNally, Phillips, Byrne, Morgan-Smith, Lissimore, Lambert.
