08-09-20 - Friendly - Harriers strike four at Alvechurch

The Reds played their second friendly of this strange pre-season this evening and ended up with a positive 4-1 win at Alvechurch.

With new signing Omari Sterling-James on the bench, Cliff Moyo was out injured still and Koby Arthur wasn’t being risked following the injury he received at Bilston Town. Starting were two trialists, one of which is believed to be Josh Gould from Swansea City. In goal for the hosts was a former Harriers keeper, Jono Brown.

The Harriers held out for twelve minutes before going behind to a penalty that was dispatched by Kieran Cook. Eleven minutes later and the status quo was restored when Ashley Hemmings crossed the ball in from wide for Amari Morgan-Smith to lash it home.

Further chances fell to Alex Prosser and the mysterious Player D before halftime was reached all square.

HT: 1-1

It took just a minute after the break to give us the lead and again it was the returning Morgan-Smith that bundled the ball home following some pinging about the Alvechurch area. It’s good to see a natural goalscorer back with us. In the fifty third minute we increased our lead further.

Ash Hemmings was the scorer of this one when he collected the ball out wide and drove forward into the area and rifled the ball home beyond Jono Brown.

A fourth goal was added in the sixty sixth minute when new signing Sterling-James fired a belter into the top of the net to put recent Worcester Senior Cup game results against Alvechurch into distant memory. That was it basically with the Harriers now fully in charge of a dispirited home team.
