Grabs the winning goal in the Senior Cup

The Harriers entered into this seasons Worcestershire Senior Cup at the quarter final stage this evening with an unusual, for a football team, visit to the Worcester Warriors rugby clubs’ stadium at Sixways. No we haven’t changed codes but along with this first visit there we were also playing our first ever game against the recently formed Worcester Raiders. Raiders are backed financially by the Warriors so could be seen by some as a bit of a rich mans plaything. I’m sure they’re not though.

In a mainly youthful line-up there was a place for Joe Foulkes who is making his way back from injury and also other first teamers Ethan Freemantle, Nick Clayton-Phillips and Jaiden White. In the Raiders side were ex Harriers Ewan Mountjoy and Harry Stratford.

It took the Harriers three minutes to take the lead through Jack Tolley with a low finish and that was held throughout the remainder of the first half. Freemantle and NCP came close to adding to the goal tally but the former Harriers youth team keeper, Mountjoy keeps them out.

That lead was held until the sixty ninth minute when the Raiders drew level through Okera Simmonds who finished well after being played through by Isaac Cooper. Earlier Joe Foulkes left the field of play as a precaution after feeling a bit of pain.

With the time running out the Harriers took the lead once more though Kai Lissimore in the eighty eighth minute when he slotted the ball home beyond Mountjoy.
