Date: 19-08-23 Match preview Vs Bromley FC Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 15:00hrs |
Preview: Phil Lench

Getting a strange injury lately
The defeat at AFC Fylde on Tuesday evening makes it a full house for the Harriers now with one draw, one win and now one loss.
We looked comfortable at Fylde until the final ten minutes when we collapsed and let a goal in, then deservedly equalised through a Kieran Phillips goal a few minutes later but then collapsed further by letting Fylde grab a winner just two minutes after our goal. Up until then we’d looked solid, if not very spectacular, and should have come away with the draw at least.
We now have the chance to add another win to the list when we welcome Bromley FC to Aggborough for the first time since 2016 when we lost. We’ve also lost our other two clashes with the South London side too so we really do need to win this one.
Bromley gained promotion in that season and have been there ever since without setting the place on fire although they have finished in the play-offs twice in that time including beating Woking in last seasons play-off games. At the moment they’re second from bottom of the table but it’s early days yet.
If we’re lucky we might get to see a legendary world class former footballer at Aggborough. No, not Micah Richards but Dennis Bergkamp. His son Mitchel plays for Bromley but hasn’t made an appearance so far this season.
We’ll be without Shane Byrne (knee) and Matt Preston (calf) for this game while there may be some concern for Zak Brown after he was subbed early in the second period after going off with a slight hamstring injury at Fylde and also in the previous two games at home to Woking FC and York City.
We now need to put Fylde behind us (if only) and concentrate on getting the three points against Bromley.
Stop Press: Harriers have signed Barry Maguire on loan from Motherwell.
