Steve Burr

Steve Burr joined the club as the Harriers new manager following Mark Yates and Neil Howarths move to Cheltenham Town in the winter of 2009/10. He was formerly the manager at Stalybridge Celtic following a good, solid playing career with Macclesfield, Hednesford Town, Nuneaton Borough and Halifax Town.

On retiring from playing he became the manager at Nuneaton then Hucknall and Northwich Victoria before joining Stalybridge Celtic in 2007. On his arrival here he changed our style of play completely and started a process of bringing in rookie players from a level below the Conference such as Chey Dunkley, Anthony Malbon and Marvin Johnson.

During his reign at Aggborough he got the club to the edge of the play-offs twice in succession and then finally at the end of the 2011-12 season into runners up spot before losing out in the play-offs to Wrexham.

Before his dismissal he was about to take us to a FA Cup replay at League 1 side Peterborough with the carrot of a visit to Premiership strugglers Sunderland in the 4th round.

His ability to spot a player with potential was to give him a reputation throughout non-league football as possibly the top manager available and that led to him forever being linked with other clubs. He always turned down any approach until a fateful day in November 2013 when he was rumoured to have been in discussions with Forest Green Rovers but immediately said that he would be staying with KHFC.

Following that he lost the trust of the boardroom, but not the trust of the majority of the Harriers fans, and by then his days were numbered and he was finally dismissed from his post in the New Year of 2014 with a statement from the board that the club needed a manager to take them into the football league and win things.

A few days later, on January 17th, he was appointed as the new manager of Chester FC.
