12-05-18 - News - Harriers announce their ‘not’ released list
Following the end of another, ultimately, disappointing climax to the season the Harriers announced which players would be staying to help us do better next season and which players would be leaving to try their luck elsewhere. Most fans weren’t expecting a massive overhaul of the squad and names were bandied around of the two or three that would be given their notice.

Waiting for the big one to come in

In the end it appears that no one has actually been told to go and all have been offered new contracts. The only one unsure of his future at Aggborough is Elton N’Gwatala who has asked for time to think about it while he weighs up options with football league clubs.

As we saw last season though Elton had similar ambitions but they failed to materialise and he ended up returning to us to have a very successful season. Elton could do no worse than to look at situation his fellow countryman, Arthur Gnahoua, has found himself in at Shrewsbury stuck in the reserves and no real future with the club.

Of those that hadn’t signed new contracts prior to the end of the season the outstanding was the second highest scorer, and crowd pleaser, Emmanuel Sonupè. Thankfully after giving it some thought he has decided to stay with us for a further season and to help us back into the national Premier.

Also agreeing to stay was goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan who wanted to stay part time due to his job at JLR and will be with us on non-contract terms.

So this is how it all looks right now with the club waiting on answers from those offered contracts.

Contracted for the 2018/19 season:

  • Brandon Hall
  • Nathan Vaughan
  • Tom Palmer
  • Lee Vaughan
  • James O’Connor
  • Joel Taylor
  • Fraser Horsfall
  • Sam Austin
  • Ryan Croasdale
  • Declan Weeks
  • Dan Bradley
  • Joe Ironside
  • Emmanuel Sonupé

Offered terms for 2018/19 season:

  • Kennedy Digie
  • Liam Truslove
  • Andre Brown
  • James McQuilkin
  • James Pearson
  • Elton Ngwatala

Don’t forget that those offered contracts may not sign them while those that have may be subject to offers from other clubs and we couldn’t stand in their way could we. Especially when there’s money on offer.
