GAME OFF
The Harriers are back home at Aggborough this weekend for the second game in a row and this time it’s Guiseley who are our visitors.
Last Saturday we suffered yet another home defeat to York City after a mistake from debutante Alex Penny let Dan Maguire in to tap the ball home just a few seconds after the second half started. Up until then, and afterwards, he’d been having a good solid game so the mistake could be put down to unfamiliarity with his new team mates.
Alex joined us from Boston Utd just prior to the game, along with Lewis Miccio, and he looked comfortable at the back giving us a solidity that we had been missing. City were restricted to just a couple of half chances throughout the game and a draw would have been a fairer result.
We’ll be looking for only our second double of the season after we beat Guiseley up at their place back in December. A goal from Ashley Chambers and a rare one from Sam Austin gave us the points after going a goal down to a late first half goal from Kaine Felix. Now we have the chance to pay back that final day defeat at Aggborough last season against a side that included the Reds captain, Cliff Moyo, in their starting eleven.
We’ll probably still be without Declan Weeks for the game while Samir Nabi should be fit enough for the bench having now recovered from the hamstring pull he picked up at Kings Lynn Town. Rhys Williams also picked up a couple of knocks against York but should be ok while there was no sign of Correy Davidson last week so he might have an injury that we haven’t been told about.
Guiseley, sitting in tenth place in the league, have been going through some middling form lately. Last weekend they had to be content with a 2-2 draw at home to Gateshead after leading 2-0 from the twentieth minute only to give the win away in the final five minutes of the game.
The Lions have no known injuries so should be at full strength.
Now all we need to do is wait to see if the latest storm to hit these shores, Storm Jorge, or is it Storm Xorxe?, will have any bearing on the game.
Stop Press: Correy Davidson has gone on loan to Bromsgrove Sporting for the remainder of the season.
