27-01-23. Match preview Vs Peterborough Sports

Preview: Phil Lench

The Harriers will be paying a first ever visit to Peterborough Sports tomorrow and it’s one that has to be pencilled in as winnable. On Tuesday we came back from Curzon Ashton with all three points thanks to a first ever goal for Nathaniel Knight-Percival in Reds colours. That topped off a five game unbeaten run in the league and was also our first win since Hereford FC on Boxing Day.

Back in August we beat Sports 2-0 at Aggborough with our goals coming from Ethan Freemantle and Nathan Lowe. Lowe is no longer with us, temporarily, but Ethan will be hoping to get a chance to score his first goal for us since our trip to AFC Telford Utd in November. He’s well overdue a goal.

The former Harriers striker, Michael Gash, also hasn’t scored since November but we don’t want him scoring again just yet although it’ll be good to see him again.

We will most likely be without Joe Foulkes again after he was scythed down at Curzon on Tuesday and came out after the game with his knee heavily strapped and ice packs attached. Caleb Richards will still miss out after he told me that his rolled ankle is actually a possible torn ligament and he’s having a scan next week to check out what is actually the problem.

Joe Leesley is out long term but as for Zak Brown nothing is known. He wasn’t at Curzon the other night.

Sports gained promotion to here last season and they started of pretty well at first – they were third in the table when we last played them – but in recent weeks they’ve dropped down slightly but are still putting results together. They have had some games called off lately though so twelfth place in the table might be a bit of a misnomer.

Their injuries? Jordan Nicholson has a slight hamstring pull so may not be included while Dan Lawlor got injured in training last week so might also be missing. Otherwise it’s all good with them and all we need to do is concentrate and go for it for another three points on the road.
