25-02-19 - Preview - Ashton Utd Vs Kidderminster Harriers

The Harriers face a trip to Manchester tomorrow evening to play Ashton Utd in a game that was called off at the start of the month due to a sprinkling of snow. That’s the white stuff they get up North at this time of year and I hear they get it in Wales too.

When it was cancelled we were in the middle of a bad run that saw the appointment of Mark Yates as the new manager and things haven’t really improved since then. A win at home to Chester FC came in Marks actual first game but since then it’s been back to the doom and gloom with a defeat at home to York City the following week. Then on Saturday we threw the game away in the final few minutes at ten man Blyth Spartans when we allowed them to score twice and earn a point against our lethargic full timers.

Our hosts lie third from bottom in the table and have struggled for most of the season but they are battling hard to escape the drop. As we were drawing in Northumberland our opponents tomorrow, Ashton, were winning 1-0 at league leaders Chorley FC in what must have been the second biggest shock of the day. Ours was the biggest.

We still have that bug in the camp and Liam McAlinden was one that missed the game while Joel Taylor played with the effects lingering. No doubt there’ll be more out tomorrow although we were told that it’s now run its course.

Here’s hoping that yet another stiff talking to will make this team buck their ideas up. If they don’t cotton on to what is needed soon then we won’t be seeing the play-offs come May.
