Looking for more goals at Brackley

The Harriers face Brackley Town tomorrow in a game that see’s us at the mid way point of five games against clubs in the promotion places. We’ve already lost to Chorley but saw off Spennymoor Town last Saturday. Following tomorrows game we’ll be away at Altrincham next Saturday and then at home to Bradford (Park Avenue) the following weekend. All of them are very tough games.

Our record at Brackley isn’t the best with 2-0 defeats in our only two visits there. It’s about time that got changed around.

Against Moors last week Ashley Chambers scored twice to add to his three goals against Nuneaton a few weeks back. He’s on a rich thread of form lately and will, no doubt, be looking to build on the new belief that Mark Yates has discovered in him. He had been on a barren spell ever since a home game against ……… Brackley, back in December when he scored both goals in a game that we won for a change.

Now ain’t that a good omen if ever there was one?

Any other good omens? Well we might see Declan Weeks back at last with him playing in a training game during the week. He came through that unscathed so let’s just hope he’s deemed fit enough for a real game and we can see him alongside Milan Butterfield in a more creative midfield.

That leaves Liam Truslove and Nick Clayton-Phillips as our only injured players now unless, as reported, Ed Williams could be out with an ankle injury following his appearance in the England C game against Wales during the week. Hopefully he was withdrawn as a precaution but if it is bad then we could be missing him at an important part of the season.

As in all the seasons that we have been at this level Brackley have been in and around the play-offs in that time. This season is no different and you have to wonder how they do it on small crowds, a barebones squad and also being part time. They’ve been in and around since September and that’s quite something.

They now have just the two former Reds playing for them with Danny Lewis in goal and Daniel Nti up front alongside Lee Ndlovu who has banged in nineteen goals so far this season. They have no known injuries due to it being a secret.

This is going to be a toughie and last week we seemed to have put the blip that was Chorley behind us. We now have to put the away record at Brackley behind us too
