| Date: 20-09-22 Harriers off down South in the FA Cup again |

The Harriers will be returning to the South of the country in this seasons FA Cup once again when they travel down to the M25 corridor for a face off with the National South strugglers Cheshunt FC. Last season we went down to Ware FC following our 2nd qualifying round win at Sporting Khalsa and this time our reward for the win at home to Tamworth is another journey out of our region.
Ironically Cheshunt is but a few miles south of Ware so it’s an area that we’re familiar with.
So what do we know about Cheshunt? Well not a lot really. Cheshunt is in Hertfordshire and as already noted it’s on the Northern side of the M25/Junction 25 and alongside the A10 where their Theobalds Lane ground is situated. They finished fifth in the South Central Premier Division last season and gained promotion to the National South for the first time by beating Hornchurch FC in the play-off final. Their rise seems to be from a sugar daddy ploughing money into the club as noted with a somewhat bragging tone on their website:
Cheshunt FC’s trophy cabinet is set to grow – thanks to millions of pounds of investment.
From their playing squad the only one that stands out is Rowan Liburd. He spent time with Hereford FC a couple of seasons ago but didn’t settle too well there finding himself out on loan to Dartford a few months later then getting released the following season without ever playing against us. He was also with Guiseley AFC too before them and never played against us then either.
At the moment Cheshunt sit second from bottom in the table with just the one win at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough on opening day. All the rest of their games have been losses but they did pull a win out of the hat on Saturday when they beat St Neots Town 3-1 to earn their 3rd qualifying round place against us.
The game will be played on October 1st and you can find out more about them here.
