18-08-17 - Preview - Salford City FC Vs Harriers

We face the favourites for the title tomorrow when we visit Manchester for the second weekend running. Salford City is where we are headed and hopefully we can also make it two wins in a row in that fair city after winning 2-1 at FC Utd last Saturday.

It could even be three in a row after we also won in mid-week at home to Leamington in a game that should be forcibly erased from most peoples memories if it wasn’t for that comedy, but exciting, goal at the end when the Leamington keeper didn’t race back from a last minute corner and was caught out by Manny Sonupè hoisting the ball into an empty net from near to the halfway line.

That makes it three goals for the season for our new winger now and that makes him our leading scorer by a long chalk. It’s hard to see how he does it when sometimes he can’t even remember which foot to kick the ball with. Also on the scoresheet on Tuesday was Joe Ironside, opening his account with a well taken spot kick after Sonupè was bought down on the edge of the area.

Last season we had Mani Dieseruvwe to provide our goals but he never did. He signed for Salford before the start of the season but has yet to get off the mark for them but he has only played in the first two games so far due to injury. Their three wins have come in their last three games against Chorley (A), Telford (A) and on Tuesday evening at home to local rivals Stockport County at home. Salfords only defeat was on the opening day at home to Darlington.

We had Liam Truslove missing from the game against Leamington after he picked up a knock at FC Utd when he came on as a second half substitute for Elton N’Gwatala. He should be ok for tomorrow though. Also missing on Tuesday was Ryan Croasdale who had been excused for family reasons, and no he’s not in talks with AFC Fylde!

Any other news coming from us is a little thin on the ground today due to being more interested in the new stadium talk but that will have to be put on the back burner. I’m sure that the team management will be telling players to just concentrate on the game in hand tomorrow and to come back with another great win under their belts.
