15-09-17 - Harriers bring in a new defender

On the eve of our FA Cup game at Deeping Rangers the Harriers have bought in James Pearson, a defender.

He was released from Coventry City recently after having spent just under one month with them. James is the son of the former Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesborough defender and latterly the Leicester City and Derby County manager Nigel Pearson.

It was while with Leicester that father signed son but a sex scandal in Thailand while the City were on their end of season tour and Pearson along with two others were sent home. All three were later sacked and soon after so was his father.

That’s now all in the past and since then he has been trying to re-build his career without much luck. On leaving Leicester he spent some time without a club but then joined up with Barnet for a while.

A month later he signed non-contract terms with Coventry City. He never played for them and was released just before deadline day last month.

Hopefully he’s going to be the answer we are looking to for our central defensive problems and we might, at last, see Sam Austin never play at full back again.
