12-08-19 - Preview - Kidderminster Harriers Vs Gloucester City

Correy Davidson
Correy Davidson
Scored at Bradford but could possibly be missing tomorrow

The Harriers go into tomorrow evenings game against local rivals Gloucester City with some possible injury problems following our 3-0 win at Bradford (Park Avenue) on Saturday.

The scorer of our opening goal, Correy Davidson, went off mid way through the second half after getting a bad knock to his leg while Milan Butterfield limped off down the tunnel at the end of the game so there could be a problem there. James O’Connor has already missed two games with a knee injury while Tom Palmer could be out again with a head injury.

We do have replacements in Harry Higginson and Alex Prosser but that will leave us weak on the bench and could mean even more academy players coming in. There was talk of a player coming in from another club but so far no one has materialised.

In addition to Davidsons goal at Bradford, a first for him in Harriers colours, Rhys Williams also opened his account for us when he headed home the second goal while Ashley Chambers wrapped things up for a convincing three points. That win put us up to tenth place with four points and three behind the early pacesetters York City. Meanwhile our opponents tomorrow also have four points but trail us in fourteenth place on goal difference.

Gloucester have had the same results as us basically with one win, one defeat and one draw in the bag. The opening day win came away at Blyth Spartans then a midweek game at home to Hereford FC ended in defeat along with having two players red carded. Fabian Robert and Jake Jackson will both miss the game tomorrow. On Saturday they drew at home to Altrincham with Joe Hanks scoring their goal.

We last played City at Cheltenhams, Whaddon Road back in April 2017 where we won 2-1. Ed Williams scored their lone goal and at the end of the following  season he joined the Harriers.

Following our game in Cheltenham City were moved into the National South and also moved their home games to Evesham Utd. They’re still there now waiting to move back to their old ground in Gloucester city centre.

With our possible injury problems and a team that are still getting their bearings I have the feeling this is going to be a closely fought affair. So close I might be expecting a draw.
