12-02-20 - News - Harriers go out of the County Cup

The Harriers made their exit from the Worcestershire Senior Cup this evening at Alvechurch in a scoreline that halved the 6-0 thrashing we received from them in July 2017.

As in the previous round at Bewdley Town the other week we fielded a young side made up of U23’s and fringe first team players again with the extra spice of the former Birmingham City and Cheltenham Town striker Koby Arthur who we were running the rule over. The ‘Church included one of our former youngsters in their side with Joe Hull lining up for them.

It took nine minutes for the hosts to take the lead through Joe Phillips when he slammed home a Taylor Morrison cross into the box. We had to wait until the second half for any further action in a game that was bogged down in nil chances for either side.

It took us until the eightieth minute to get our first effort on target. A header from Brett Taylor going just wide. Seven minutes later and it was contest over when Joe Hull headed home from a free kick and then in the second minute of injury time Kevin Montiero wrapped things up when he chased down a through ball, rounded Tom Palmer in the Reds goal and slotted home to give them the 3-0 win in front of a crowd of 133.

We can now concentrate on the, err, league.
