Date: 12-11-24 Match preview Vs South Shields Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs |
Preview:Phil Lench

South Shields born Phil Brown will be welcoming his home town club to Aggborough tomorrow evening in what will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs. Both teams are on a good run of form but the Harriers hold the upper hand having been unbeaten now in seven games while Shields have won their last two games – against Warrington Town and Kings Lynn Town.
On Saturday we beat Farsley Celtic by what is becoming our signature score, 1-0. The goal came from Ben Beresford on his return from injury and took all of a minute to score after coming on as a substitute in the fifty first minute. We’ve now won 1-0 three times in our last five games.
Following a tight schedule of three games in seven days Phil Brown is expected to undergo a little squad rotation due to the absence of Maz Kouhyar and Maliq Cadogan on international duties and give the likes of Jack Lambert and Tope Obadeyi starts. We we could see a first appearance from new loan signing Taylor Foran after his recruitment on loan from Bromley FC last Friday and that could mean a rest for David Davis.
On the bench we could be looking at Kobe Hall and Noah Rubio (yes please) and hopefully give them some game time if we’re going well. Out injured still are Paul Downing, Alex Penny and Luke Summerfield with only Downing a possibility to return.
With us now in fourth place in the table we’ll be hoping to push on a go higher and that’ll depend on two factors: Us scoring more than one goal and THE form team Buxton FC drawing or losing at home to Brackley Town. Brackley themselves are picking up form too after struggling in recent weeks being unbeaten in their last four games.
To achieve that we need to be more ruthless in front of goal. We’ve been told by both manager and players in recent interviews that a lack of being ruthless and aware in front of goal was our achilles heel. Then now is the time to be aware and ruthless!
