07-12-18 - Preview - Kidderminster Harriers Vs Brackley Town

Almost certain to debut tomorrow

The enforced lay off last Saturday, due to the waterlogged pitch at Spennymoor Town, means that the Harriers will come into this game at home to Brackley Town tomorrow fully rested and raring to go.

Defender Lee Vaughan would have missed the Spennymoor game due to the accumulation of five yellow cards but that’s been carried over until tomorrow now. We’ll also be without more defenders with James O’Connor suffering a calf injury against York City two weeks ago and he could be doubtful for the Christmas  games against Hereford FC and Stockport County. Worryingly the club decided to send out Josh Taylor on loan to Halesowen Town and earlier Kennedy Digie went out to York to leave us short on defending numbers.

Prior to the abandoned Spennymoor game we did bring in a defender, Aaron Phillips, so four defenders out and one in seems like good thinking to me. He will have no choice but to debut tomorrow with such a depleted defence.

We also bought in a ‘new’ striker to replace a similar striker who has been sent out on loan so there’s a pattern forming here. George Waring and Joe Ironside are the two mentioned there.

With us now down to seventh place in the table due to the weekend off we find ourselves in danger of dropping even further to eighth if we fail to beat Brackley tomorrow. They could leapfrog us with a win and looking at our home record for the past two months they must be feeling pretty confident of a win here.

They’ll be arriving at Aggborough with a small, but full, squad to choose from. That squad includes two former Harriers in Danny Lewis and Danny Nti with the latter having joined them in July following his acrimonious departure from Nuneaton Borough after he took them, and won, to court for non-payment of £3000 worth of wages.

The other former Harrier who was there last season was Jack Byrne but following an injury hit time there he left the club in the close season and has, by all accounts, retired from playing.

Hopefully we might strengthen the side defensively before the game but that’s looking unlikely and we’ll have to go with what we have. If we can win with what we have will be a different matter.
