08-08-17 - Bradley's back

After weeks of online talk about the return of Dan Bradley to the Harriers today was finally that day. He signed for the club late this afternoon on a three year deal and also a substantial amount of money said by the Fylde chairman as £75,000. It’s that three year contract that has been one of the main talking points with having to pay money for him running it a close second.

Bradley first played for the Reds in January 2012 after being signed by Steve Burr. His time here was fraught with problems though and he eventually left us for Alfreton, and a small fee, six months later.

After two seasons with Alfie he signed for newly promoted Barnet but again there were problems and he never played a game for them. His last port of call was AFC Fylde a year ago and again he doesn’t seem to have settled there and at the end of last season, once they had been promoted, he put in a transfer request.

About the signing the Harriers chairman, Colin Gordon, said this:

I’m sure the fact that we’ve paid a big sum to bring Dan here will raise one or two eyebrows but this is very calculated gamble and, not having that kind of money just lying around, it isn’t something we’ve done lightly.

“We aren’t talking specifics with regards to the fee at the present moment but that’s only owing to the fact that we’ll be going to an FA Tribunal over Jordan Tunnicliffe – we would hope to recoup a good portion of the amount we’ve spent and will communicate that when we know more.

So it seems that we have got ourselves something of a bargain then with the fee for Tunnicliffe still to be decided on. Shouldn’t that all have been settled by now though?

We’ll wait and see how long he stays with us this time but one thing is for sure. It’s doubtful he’ll be starting at Nuneaton tomorrow evening seeing he has hardly kicked a ball in three months.

It will also be interesting to see which player will be making way for him so early in the season. Surely it won’t be either Declan Weeks or Elton N’Gwatala seeing as they’ve only just signed for us and Ryan Croasdale has only just been given the captains armband so it won’t be him either..
