07-01-19 - Preview - Spennymoor Town Vs Kidderminster Harriers

Joe Ironside
Joe Ironside
Back from York but will he be at Spennymoor?

We’ll be off to Spennymoor Town tomorrow without Neil MacFarlane at the helm following his departure from the club yesterday. The poor result at nearby Darlington on Saturday was the last straw for the board and this morning he was handed his cards.

Saturdays defeat came on the back of a run of losses with only the home win against Hereford FC the only glimmer of light on a grey horizon to cheer the long suffering Harriers fans. Also happening today was the return of Joe Ironside from his loan spell with York City so that’ll cheer the fans up too. But not for long no doubt.

At Darlington we again had full control of the game, up until the ten minute mark, but did nothing with it and in the end got ripped a new one after Stephen Thompson lobbed Brandon Hall for the opening goal. Two more were added in the second half and the Harriers came home all that way empty handed.

Now, tomorrow, we go all the way back up there to take on Spennymoor in a game that was originally penned in for December 1st but fell foul to their shocking pitch. The pitch that had money spent on it after it failed so many times last season.

On Saturday they were down in this neck of the woods at AFC Telford Utd. They lost 2-1 there in their first defeat away from home since October, with Telfords second goal coming from former Harrier Darryl Knights, to keep them just two places above us in the table and one point in front. They do have a game in hand over us though.

We have a number of players either missing or doubtful for the game. Billy Daniels will still be out with a bad knee injury while Ed Williams and Dan Bradley could return from their recent injuries/illnesses or whatever it is they have. James O’Connor went off before the break at Darlington but he could be back although we don’t know what the injury was and the same goes for George Waring who also picked up a knock.

New signing Ryan Johnson will miss the game due to the start of his three match ban following the red card against Hereford.

The Moors only doubt is Rob Ramshaw. He failed a fitness test for  a muscle strain on the morning of the Telford game so may still not be fit enough to face us.

Now all we need do is wait until the game is called off.
