The Harriers venture the short distance to the Stadium of Glass tomorrow afternoon hoping to hear the sound of breaking glass as we shatter Stourbridges’ hopes of progressing any further in the FA Cup. The one thing against that happening though is our abysmal record of winning cup ties there in recent years.<\/p>\n

It was three seasons ago that we last played them in the FA Cup under Dave Hockaday<\/a> and we collapsed to a disastrous 3-0 defeat. Two months later we returned to the War Memorial Ground for the FA Trophy and lost again with a 2-1 scoreline.\u00a0 Our only goal in those two meetings was from Gurjit Singh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now we have to be ready and this time do better to come home with the win.<\/p>\n

We should now have a fully fit side at our disposal with Joel Taylor hopefully back from his eye injury. If he’s not then we’re going to have to draft in yet another academy player to fill the seventeen strong bench. Harry Stratford,\u00a0Reiss Taylor-Randle and Harry Higginson have already made fleeting appearances and will no doubt be used again.<\/p>\n

Our hosts, Stourbridge, will have\u00a0defender Jack Duggan out with a hamstring injury while Rob Thompson-Brown<\/a> will be making an appearance against his former club. The Glassboys play in the\u00a0Evo-Stik Southern Premier Central and, following their 3-1 win against Needham Market last Saturday, sit in third place. On Wednesday evening they took a mixed side to Evesham Utd for their league cup game and came away with a 3-2 win.<\/p>\n

The biggest talking point this week hasn’t been the actual game, and whether we could win, but the naive arrangements surrounding the lack of ticketing and that there will only be 600 spaces for Harriers fans. In fact the figures for those two previous meetings explodes that argument out of the water with a quoted 500 Harriers fans travelling for the FA Trophy and around 60 less for the FA Cup game a few weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

With the gates opening at 1.30pm the answer is to get there as early as possible rather than missing out and if you miss out then you won’t see the Harriers progress into the next round of the Cup will you?<\/p>\n
