The former Hereford FC winger Qamaruddin Maziar Kouhyar, better known as Maz Kouhyar, joined the Harriers on a season long loan from York City in July 2024. Born in Afghanistan he arrived in this country as a refugee at the age of two and lived with his family in Handsworth, Birmingham. He was spotted by a Coventry City scout at the age of eleven playing in a community run football club. After failing to make the grade at City he joined Walsall in their academy but a bad ACL injury forced him out of the game for two years and he left the club. On his return from injury he joined Hereford FC for a season before joining York City after failing to agree to a move to Aggborough in 2022. Maz has played for the Afghan international side since 2017 and played for them, while with us, in November 2024 against Nepal in a friendly. |
