Tony Bird joined the Harriers on the recommendation of Jan Molby’s assistant Gary Barnett following his release from Swansea in 2000. Barnett was Bird’s former boss at Barry Town a few years earlier. He made his debut for the Harriers on our debut in the football league on 12th August 2000 against Torquay United but during his first months with the club he failed to get on the scoresheet until a scored a brace in a 2-1 victory over Kingstonian in November 2000. He was transfer listed in January 2001, but managed to force his way back into the side by switching to a midfield role during an injury crisis at the club and found himself rejuvenated and scoring once more. He left Aggborough at the end of the following season for Irish club, St Patricks. | |||
