The highly respected (at our level) midfielder Shane Byrne signed for the Harriers towards the beginning of July 2022 following the end of his contract with Boston Utd. He had signed for Boston only a year previously and was expected to stay longer but for financial reasons Boston allowed him to leave. His career in this country started with Leicester City but he never made the grade there and was released at the age of nineteen. He had already spent time on loan at Bury and signed for them in August 2012 but at the end of the season he was released and returned to Ireland to join Bray Wanderers. Soon after he was back in England signing for Corby Town. He eventually joined Brackley Utd and played many a time against the Harriers and more often than not coming out on top. Now with us hopefully the tables will be turned. With the Harriers he became an inspirational captain and leader for two years but was released in May 2024 after failing to accept a lower salary following relegation. He subsequently re-joined Brackley Town. |
